An efficient pad heater used for welding solutions

What is a pad heater?

Pad heaters or the resistance heating components perfectly heat the object/ the workpiece to the actual temperature before, during, and post-welding procedures. This will assure high compliance with recommended for various applications preheat and Pre Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) operations. They are manufactured out of ceramic beads suspended on nichrome or Kanthol wire.

These heaters are developed with standard semi-flexible ceramic heater pads, with interconnecting silica fiber mats with stainless steel backing, they provide an appropriate fit to the workpiece. These heaters are capable of withstanding temperatures above1,800 degrees F. An added feature of ceramic pad heaters is that they can withstand high welding temperatures and don’t have to be moved during welding. . The flexible insulated pads are malleable and will be twisted both ways according to the requirements and product specifications.

The Insulated Heating Pads are constructed with high-quality heater pads attached to a silica fiber meshed mat with stainless steel support. The main advantage of Insulated ceramic Heater Pads is Ideal for welding concave and convex fabrications. They possess powerful heat transfer capacity and are also long-lasting. The apparatus is mainly developed to make the steel free from harmful, unevenly distributed internal stresses, yet leaving it hard and tough enough to be serviceable.

As these ceramic pad heaters are crafted and designed for high temperatures(up to 1800 degrees F, and are competent for a variety of heating processes like normalizing, preheating, tempering, annealing, soft annealing, stress relieving, homogenizing and recrystallization of pipes and also pressure vessels, etc. These types of heaters can be customized with varied voltages from 30V up to 80V.

Benefits of Pad Heaters

  • Versatility: welding can be performed on different shapes, sizes and types of parts, from the pipe and flat plate to elbows and valves. One aspect of induction that makes it attractive for complex shapes is the ability to adjust the coils during the heating process to accommodate unique parts and heat sinks. These heater pads have the ability to adapt or be adapted to work under different functions or parameters.

  • Enhances durability: Improves the fine structure of the device and helps to develop the durability of the heat-affected zone. This will ensure the structural integrity of the vessel or unit during the welding process or treatment.

  • Maintain uniform temperature: The pad heaters will distribute heat energy uniformly over the surface area where the coils are wounded or the blanket is placed, enhancing even, consistent temperature to the bottom components. In comparison, normal flame welding requires manual motion that is difficult to control, while pad heaters often do not touch the part consistently, causing even heat and stress on the weld.

  • Minimizes cycle time: This pad heater provides a considerably faster system and time-to-temperature. Resistance heating often requires a preheating contractor, which can result in delays and long working times that cause welder downtime. Whereas With pad heaters, welders can heat their own parts, maximizing efficiency and profits.

  • Decreased consumables costs: The insulation used in pad heaters are easy to attach to workpieces and can be reused again and again. Also, the heaters have coils that are robust and don’t require fragile wire or ceramic substances. Compare this to the ceramic fiber insulation that is used in normal heat resistors, which can be used only once or twice before.

  • Reduces brittleness and cracking: The process will decrease the threats of in-service snags such as stress corrosion or brittle fracture by lowering the residual stress in the welded units. The pad heaters will enhance and Improve the structural integrity of welded components and minimize the possibility of fabrication-related ruptures.

  • Ease of operation: The whole working set-up involves no complicated design, the Insulation, blankets, and cables are simple to install, normally take less than 15 minutes, and can be easily modified.

  • Workplace Safety:  The system ensures smooth heat-treating processes, reduces instruments and labor requirements, and ultimately reduces risk. The remote access control and monitoring help to remove employees from sensitive, congested, or risky working spaces andareas
